Last Week's Space Weather Brief

August 6 - August 13, 2017

  • Solar activity was at low levels within the last week.

  • There was only one active region which is named as 12670 and disappeared on August 14, 2017 after 09:00 UT due to the rotation of the Sun.

  • There were only a few C class flares observed on August 14.

  • There was a coronal hole HSS arrival on August 11 at 15:00 UT.

  • Due to HSS, solar wind speed increased up to 750 km/s and the IMF Bz had a min value of -11.2 nT.

  • The solar wind speed kept its maximum values during the weekend while the IMF Bz oscillated between -6 and 8 nT.

  • Kp index showed a max value of 3 which indicates minor geomagnetic storm activity according to NOAA geomagnetic storm scale.

  • AE index had max values between 500 and 1000 nT on August 11 and 12th which indicates moderate substorm levels.
